PARSNIP – GUERNSEY
Pastinaca sativa
Despite the rather misleading name, this heritage variety originated in France pre-1826 & is often known as Half Long due to its shorter roots. It has broad shoulders & attractive smooth white skin & is considered one of the best varieties for roasting with a delicious flavor. Guernsey is a firm favorite with many, it is considered to be one of the very best roasting varieties, this reliable, sweet root vegetable is making a comeback, with crop numbers increasing all over the world.
