Raphanus sativus

Radish – Daikon (oriental radish) is the Japanese name for radish. This unusual item will add intrigue to any garden & a delicious taste to any table. Mild-flavoured,  Daikon is used in many Asian cuisines, in salads, shredded or pickled & served as garnish with sashimi.  Great keeping qualities, the roots, which are 46 to 61cm long, can be stored for weeks.  It is pure white & slightly tapered, the flesh is very crispy & tender with a mild bite. Can also be used in cooking & many recipes are available on the net or at the library.
