A 14 kg bucket of fine-grade bentonite clay for larger garden beds and soil improvement. Mix thoroughly through sandy or free-draining soil with compost or other organic matter. Avoid applying it in a thick layer.
Garden use
Bentonite clay can help sandy soils hold moisture and nutrients. Use moderate amounts and mix evenly through the soil to avoid a dense layer that could restrict drainage.
Health and safety
Avoid breathing dust and contact with eyes. Apply on a still day and consider a dust mask. Keep children and pets away during application. Sold as a garden soil conditioner only; not for food, cosmetic or medicinal use.

More About Direct Compost Solutions
When I started this journey in 2009, I found nothing existed commercially, that was reasonably priced and easy to use. There was a homemade system which I also found was not that user-friendly.
Then a friend of mine told me about a homemade method she used. However, when I tried her method, I found this also didn't suit my needs, as it too had flaws that I considered where important. It did not keep vermin out, did not have a lockable lid and (to me) looked unsightly in the garden.
