Schizanthus wisetonensis FLOWER-SCHIZANTHUS-ANGEL WINGS or Poor Mans Orchid is rewarding to grow. It is a colorful orchid-like flower mix which stands above the attractive fern-like foliage. Native to Chile, well suited to pot culture for early spring flowering, very adaptable, nip buds to spread the plant, thrives in semi-shade, Surface sow onto a good soil medium. Seeds can be started indoors twelve weeks before your last frost date. Do not cover the seeds with soil but cover the tray with black plastic or keep it in a dark location until the seeds germinate. Keep the temperature within the growing medium at 15 – 21°C. Plant the seedlings in the garden, in rich, well-draining soil when all danger of frost has passed.
