Cucurbita maxima
PUMPKIN-GOLDEN NUGGET boasts a bright orange or salmon colored, finely-ridged, dull skin. This variety is about the size of a small grapefruit & measures about 8 to 10 cm in diameter. The flavor of mature fruits is pleasantly sweet & buttery but does not offer its best flavor unless it has reached full maturity. This type of pumpkin is special because it is a bush variety - many varieties are trailing & can easily take over a small backyard. The Golden Nugget is a nice compact bush, & produces piles of small tasty pumpkins that will last for a very long time.
Direct sow into your garden. Plant these tender annuals outdoors, in full sun. Squash, even mini varieties are big feeders so plant them in rich garden soil. Mix in ample amounts of compost & manure prior to planting. Keep the soil moist but try to avoid watering the leaves. The seeds need a soil temp of about 20°C to germinate.

More About Direct Compost Solutions
When I started this journey in 2009, I found nothing existed commercially, that was reasonably priced and easy to use. There was a homemade system which I also found was not that user-friendly.
Then a friend of mine told me about a homemade method she used. However, when I tried her method, I found this also didn't suit my needs, as it too had flaws that I considered where important. It did not keep vermin out, did not have a lockable lid and (to me) looked unsightly in the garden.
