Recycled Compots x 5

1 x Lift Pin (Complimentary)
5 x Compot Bases – Recycled Black
5 x Compot Lids – Recycled black
1 x Instructions

Recycled Easy Compost Bins are a super easy way to dispose of all your pet waste and ALL your kitchen waste together in this eco-eze composting system.  This pack will suit a medium size garden, for a family of 3 or 4 who also has a medium size dog or perhaps two animals.  If you are all about your pets and not gardening then simply plant the Compots around your ornamental plants.

And once you have them in place you might like to add ALL your kitchen waste as well and nourish your garden without the hard work of composting.  These Compots should be placed in an area where no one is likely to walk on them because the black plastic is not as durable as the green virgin Compots.  This means they can break if someone stands on them.  I personally would go for the green ones because they don’t break if you stand on them.  but it is up to you which one you choose.

Can the Recycled Easy Compost Bins be recycled?

They can be recycled once they start to fall apart but they can only be recycled a certain number of times as they get softer each time and eventually become unusable.  With care they could last up to ten years or more.  Though they may not last as long as the green ones.  Some people believe recycled plastic is the better way to go.  And in many instances it is.  But with the Compot recycled is no always the best because they break easily.   And if the material is not clean but instead “Kerbside Waste” then it could potentially leach chemicals into the soil.

If you are using them in a raised garden bed and not likely to stand or sit on them, then the recycled pots are the way to go.   It is a personal choice and up to you in the end.

How many do I need?

As a general rule of thumb, I suggest one Compot per person and one for the garden.   Add one or two more if you have pets depending on whether you have a small or large animal and a small or large amount of animal waste.

Add an extra one per person if you are vegetarian.  Because, even though your waste will disappear in one to two weeks if it is full of vegan waste, I have found that vegetarians eat twice as much food as non-vegetarians so they need more space.   And they also eat less processed food, so again need more space.

I always say to start with a minimum amount and see how you go.  Then get more if you need more.  And if you use the “Above Ground Method” to compost some of your waste, you will find you may not need more, as the above ground method is super fast.

How long should I let dog waste rest before using?

It is preferable to let the animal waste decomposed properly before you spread it around your garden.   This means letting one sit unattended for 4 to 6 weeks. It could be more depending on your soil type.   You will know when it is ready because the of the way it looks and smells.   Fantastic soil with that gorgeous fresh compost smell.

It is still smells like animal waste then you need to let it rest for longer, and may need to add some water to speed up the process.   Having enough Compots allows you to let one rest for an appropriate amount of time while you rotate filling the other ones.   I recommend the Black Recycled Pots for using above ground system where you are never likely to stand on them.

The current manufacturer I use produces the recycled Compots with off cuts from the factory floor so at this stage I know there in not an issue with the recycled plastic leaching chemicals into the soil. You must not stand on the Black Recycled Compots as the tabs can break so they are better used in the Above Ground Method or any raised garden bed where you are not likely to walk on the pots.

In the past the Recycled Compots have been made from a mixture of plastic (called Kerbside Plastic) which could potentially leach chemicals into the soil all depending on what the plastic was used for before it was recycled. These older products are not currently produced but may be used if there is not enough off cuts from the factory floor.  The manufacturing process used to produce this product can only use recycled kerbside plastic or factory offcuts.  Other recycled plastic materials used in many recycled products are not suitable for the process required to produce the Compot.

The black recycled Compots are not as strong as the green virgin plastic Compots.  As  mentioned you can break the tabs on the lid if you stand on them and they may not last as long as the virgin green ones which can be recycled at a time when they finally fall apart.

I do not guarantee the black recycled Compots because they could potentially leach chemicals into the soil depending on where the recycled plastic comes from, as it is impossible to know what the plastic container held before it became recycled plastic. There may be nothing in them but unless you test every batch of plastic you can’t know for sure. This testing is not likely to happen due to the cost involved as they would have to test every batch.

I have customers who have them in their veggie garden but I cannot recommend it and nor can I guarantee these pots as they are weaker than the green virgin Compots.  But the choice is yours in the end.   The green ones can be recycled when you are finished with them.   The Black ones get weaker with each recycle phase until they are not useable at all.

To post one Compot costs the same as three Compots (unless you live in Brisbane where the rates are generally less than most other areas) so consider the postage costs when you order to get the best value out of your post.

After 3 Compots it costs roughly the same to post up to 14 Compots depending on where you live.   You can test different bundles for postage costs by entering your suburb details and requesting a quote.   Just don’t follow through with the order.   Try another bundle to compare postage costs, and then make your choice on the bundle you want.   Or call us if you can’t work this out.

The updated website and shopping cart should automatically calculate any variations of products you add to your order and offer you the three cheapest options (one with signature required) so you can choose which option you prefer, be it courier or Australia Post.  However, if this does not appear to happen then please call us (0467 006 529 / (07) 3358 3716) for a correct quote or continue to payment options.  We will refund you any postage charges over and above what the real cost is when we calculate and book your order.   So don’t be put off by the post.

If for any reason you feel the postage to your area is excessive (and sometimes it is too remote areas) please email us  so we can work something out for you.  The updated website will now give you Australia Post and courier costs, but this still may be excessive.   So, contact us to see how we can help.

There is no product information on recycled plastic as it comes from many different sources and is generally referred to as “Kerbside Waste”    The manufacturing process used to produce this product can only use recycled kerbside plastic or factory offcuts.  Other recycled plastic materials used in many recycled products are not suitable for the process required to produce the Compot.
