Phaseolus vulgaris
BEAN-ROYAL BURGUNDY-BUSH originating from the Andean regions of South America, the deep purple coloured dwarf cultivar was bred in 1957 at the University of New Hampshire in the USA.

Grows to roughly 51cm high and should not need staking. Tender, long round stringless pods it is best picked young for the best flavour. Great eaten raw in salads but turns green when cooked. Sow after last frost in areas with cool night conditions. Succession plant every 2 weeks for longer production.
This bean has good resistance to mosaic virus, powdery mildew, and white mold.
Seeds germinate quickly in 6 to 14 days, matures 8 to 10 weeks. Soak seeds in lukewarm water for approximately 1 hour before sowing and plant in well drained composted soil. Water once only till seeds germinate to prevent rotting of the seeds. Plant 2.5cm deep, 8cm apart in full sun. Space rows 45 cm apart.

More About Us
When I started this journey in 2009, I found nothing existed commercially, that was reasonably priced and easy to use. There was a homemade system which I also found was not that user-friendly.
Then a friend of mine told me about a homemade method she used. However, when I tried her method, I found this also didn’t suit my needs, as it too had flaws that I considered where important. It did not keep vermin out, did not have a lockable lid and (to me) looked unsightly in the garden
