Brassica oleracea
CAULIFLOWER-VIOLET SICILIAN is a regional variety from Sicily & is a strong plant with broad, green-grey leaves. The florets of this Cauli are rosy-violet with a fine texture & good flavor. High mineral content accounts for the color. It has a superb taste both raw & cooked & is great for freezing. Best sown early spring & autumn. The beautiful, purple heads weigh 1-1.5kg & are of a fine, sweet flavor. Use raw or in stir fries to retain the color. An insect-resistant variety that is easier to grow than many white varieties. Purple cauliflower is a heritage variety that comes from either Italy or South Africa. Its true wild origin is not quite known, though its color is naturally occurring & is not due to scientific manipulation.
Firm down & water well until plants are established. Transplant when seedlings are 10cm tall. Apply fertilizer regularly and keep weed free.

More About Us
When I started this journey in 2009, I found nothing existed commercially, that was reasonably priced and easy to use. There was a homemade system which I also found was not that user-friendly.
Then a friend of mine told me about a homemade method she used. However, when I tried her method, I found this also didn’t suit my needs, as it too had flaws that I considered where important. It did not keep vermin out, did not have a lockable lid and (to me) looked unsightly in the garden
