Phaseolus vulgaris
BEAN-LAZY HOUSEWIFE-CLIMBER . Being lazy is not a prerequisite to growing this easy to grow bean. It is said to originate in Germany around 1810 and introduced to the Americas around 1885. This prolific producer is not only tasty but also stringless and can be harvested for a long period of time over many months.. Reaches approx. 2 meters high. can be grown in poor soil but will produce more if soil is improved with compost and nutrients and beans are rolled in bean inoculant or propagation powder.
Plant direct after the last frost or when the soil temperature reaches at least 18celcius. Space rows 60cm apart, seeds 5cm apart, then thin out to 30cm apart and plant every two weeks for a continuous harvest.

More About Us
When I started this journey in 2009, I found nothing existed commercially, that was reasonably priced and easy to use. There was a homemade system which I also found was not that user-friendly.
Then a friend of mine told me about a homemade method she used. However, when I tried her method, I found this also didn’t suit my needs, as it too had flaws that I considered where important. It did not keep vermin out, did not have a lockable lid and (to me) looked unsightly in the garden
