The green eco-eze Compots are made from virgin plastic material that should last you roughly 10 years plus in the garden.  There are no harmful chemicals in this material and it should not break if you stand on the lid.  The lid will usually push into the pot rather than break.  If you hit it with a rotary hoe (as one customer did) it will no doubt get chopped up.  The lid is designed to take the weight of a 50 Kg child who might run across it.  I personally have jumped on them and the lid usually just pushes inside the Compot Base.  The product is guaranteed for 2 years under normal circumstances, but it should last much longer than 2 years so you get many valuable years of use out of your Compots.
The Compot Top is made of clear plastic with a small amount of UV stabilizer added. This means it will last for several years in your garden before it deteriorates. I have had one in the garden in the same spot every day for over 8 years now and it is still going strong. There is no reason why you won’t get 10 years of use out of it as you will most likely not have it in the sun every single day like I have done to test its endurance.

What can I compost?

The Compot is designed to make composting easy.  Everything they say you can’t compost you ‘CAN‘ with this eco-eze composting system.   Meat, citrus, onions, oil, dairy, and eggs.   Not to mention bread, coffee, tea bags, prawns, hair, bones, and paper towel you might wipe your fry pan out with.  And last but not least – your pet waste.  But not in your veggie garden.   So don’t waste your waste.   Put it to good use in your garden and improve your soil and plants.  And turn your trash into triumph in your garden, while reducing methane production and helping the planet.  This system is not meant for your green garden waste but for “ALL” your kitchen waste. However you can compost fibrous garden waste, cardboard and paper, easily with the “Above Ground Method“.  Not big branches.  Just small fibrous waste.   I think it is best to mulch up your large green garden waste and use as a cover on your garden bed, and to cover your Compots.  This keeps the hot air out in summer and the cold air out in winter as well as making the eco-eze Compot composter invisible in your garden.  Thus your garden looks great with no visible composter taking up space while it silently nourishes your whole garden. Will the Compot leach harmful chemicals?

NO. It has all the space for ALL your waste to nourish your whole garden without all the hard work of composting.   If you don’t have the Soldier Fly in your area, 15 pots will easily handle your waste using worms and the other 4 elements.   Plus you’ll get lots of compost to toss around your garden because you can let one or two or three rest for a month to accumulate soil to harvest and spread around the garden. Letting one rest for 4 to 6 weeks allows everything to fully decompose so you can actually harvest the Frass.   Or make worm tea from this Frass as well, by soaking a handful of Frass in some water overnight.   They are great between fruit trees to rake up all the fruit waste straight into the Compot.  Reverse the lid so you can mow over it and thus nourish your trees at the same time.  It is a simple yet complex system if you can be bothered to find out all it can do. Your eco-eze Compot composter is a clever, easy to use, in-ground, direct compost solution, designed to dispose of all your kitchen waste.  It can be adapted to suit any size garden, either large or small.  It is meant to make composting easy while nourishing your garden without the usual hard work that composting requires.

The design of the Compot allows you to fill it with all your kitchen waste including meat, citrus, onions, oil, dairy and basically anything biodegradable such as animal waste, without needing to chop it up into little pieces like you have to do with worm composting.  And, you don’t have to keep digging holes, unless of course you want to move them around your garden every 6 months or so.  That to me is too much work.
