Cichorium intybus
CHICORY-PALLA ROSSA like most radicchio varieties is named after the Italian region where it originate. This vegetable has gorgeous dark red leaves and uniform large heads. Radicchio grows well during the cooler spring and summer months in cooler locations. If it matures during the warmest months of summer, the leaves turn bitter. Radicchio grown in the autumn or over the winter retains its sweet flavour. In cold climates, grow radicchio in a cold frame for continual harvest throughout the cold months.
Can also be sown under glass early in the year or in autumn into modules filled with seed sowing compost and transplanted out, filling vacant spaces on the plot.

More About Us
When I started this journey in 2009, I found nothing existed commercially, that was reasonably priced and easy to use. There was a homemade system which I also found was not that user-friendly.
Then a friend of mine told me about a homemade method she used. However, when I tried her method, I found this also didn’t suit my needs, as it too had flaws that I considered where important. It did not keep vermin out, did not have a lockable lid and (to me) looked unsightly in the garden
