Lactuca sativa
LETTUCE-BUTTERCRUNCH Classic butterhead type which was the standard for many years. Soft, buttery-textured leaves enclose a crisp, juicy, loose inner head of blanched, sweet-tasting leaves. Very heat-tolerant and slow to bolt, Buttercrunch stays mild long after others have turned bitter. It combines a good garden performance with a tender-crisp flavor & this heat-tolerant lettuce has quickly become a favorite & forms a beautiful rosette shape in the garden that holds well under stress and has good bolt resistance. A good source of vitamin A and phytonutrients. Grows best in full sun, but will tolerate partial shade.
Sow in ordinary garden soil directly into your garden or container. Lettuce seed must have light to germinate. Make a shallow furrow in the soil, sow the seeds, then cover the furrows with a light layer of soil. Keep moist but NOT WET.

More About Us
When I started this journey in 2009, I found nothing existed commercially, that was reasonably priced and easy to use. There was a homemade system which I also found was not that user-friendly.
Then a friend of mine told me about a homemade method she used. However, when I tried her method, I found this also didn’t suit my needs, as it too had flaws that I considered where important. It did not keep vermin out, did not have a lockable lid and (to me) looked unsightly in the garden
