Vicia faba
BEAN-AQUADULCE-BROAD-BUSH (LONG POD) is a heritage variety dating back to 1844, this is an early producer of nutty flavoured broad beans. Produces large amounts of medium green pods that are about 15cm long. Valuable winter & spring vegetable as it withstands heavy frosts. Used fresh or dried. Pick baby pods before beans are properly formed, slice & cook just like runner beans. An ideal variety for freezing. Pinching out tips after the first flowers appear encourages pods to set particularly in warmer areas. Grows to about 1m so is great for windy areas. Fixes nitrogen in the soil.

More About Us
When I started this journey in 2009, I found nothing existed commercially, that was reasonably priced and easy to use. There was a homemade system which I also found was not that user-friendly.
Then a friend of mine told me about a homemade method she used. However, when I tried her method, I found this also didn’t suit my needs, as it too had flaws that I considered where important. It did not keep vermin out, did not have a lockable lid and (to me) looked unsightly in the garden
