Beta vulgaris
BEETROOT-CYLINDRA is a wonderful heirloom from Denmark & as its name suggests is a tubular beetroot. Smooth-skinned with dark purple-red flesh, it grows a dark red, elongated root 7 to 10cm long. This unique variety has a very fine, smooth texture with little fiber, the root maintains its sweetness & tenderness over a long growing season, and it’s especially lovely when roasted. The red-green leaves are sweeter and more “beefy” tasting than other beet leaves. Because of its uniform width, it is ideal for cutting into slices. Very productive in small spaces. Sow directly into the open ground in shallow drills.

More About Us
When I started this journey in 2009, I found nothing existed commercially, that was reasonably priced and easy to use. There was a homemade system which I also found was not that user-friendly.
Then a friend of mine told me about a homemade method she used. However, when I tried her method, I found this also didn’t suit my needs, as it too had flaws that I considered where important. It did not keep vermin out, did not have a lockable lid and (to me) looked unsightly in the garden
