Cucumis sativus

I call this Australian as it was developed in Australia & was introduced in the 1920s. Each fruit is the size of a small apple with faint green markings running vertically from the blossom to stem end. The texture is crisp and keeps well after picking. Good flavour & very juicy, also good for pickles. Pick young. Easy & fun for children to grow too! Excellent when sliced thinly, mixed with yoghurt & chilled for a couple of hours before serving as a side accompaniment to a main course hot dish. They become a deeper yellow as they mature.

Sow two seeds per final position. When the plants have the first true leaves, thin to one plant per position.
