Brassica oleracea
KOHLRABI-WHITE VIENNA is an early variety that grows up to 30 cm high. The pale green, flattened, globe shaped bulbs are smooth & from above the ground. The uniquely flavored white flesh is best when bulbs are about 7.5 cm in diameter. Make successive sowings in the spring to enjoy over a longer period of time. Named for a German word meaning “cabbage turnip,” kohlrabi was developed first around the 16th century in northern Europe. By the end of that century, it had spread throughout the rest of the continent as well as to the Mediterranean region. The first recorded mention of kohlrabi in the US is found in the early 16th century. More recently, the countries of China, Israel, and Africa have discovered this vegetable; it has become quite a staple of northern Indian cuisine.
Note: Do not plant cabbage in the same area after growing Kohlrabi.

More About Us
When I started this journey in 2009, I found nothing existed commercially, that was reasonably priced and easy to use. There was a homemade system which I also found was not that user-friendly.
Then a friend of mine told me about a homemade method she used. However, when I tried her method, I found this also didn’t suit my needs, as it too had flaws that I considered where important. It did not keep vermin out, did not have a lockable lid and (to me) looked unsightly in the garden
