Allium porrum

This old heritage variety is originally from France & dates back to at least 1885 it is now quite rare & sometimes difficult to find. The leaves are large, flat & broad with Blue –Green coloring a tender white base and a delicate mild delicious flavour which is ideal for eating raw in salads. It grows vigorously, adapts to most soils & yields very well. It has been around since well before 1885. Does well even in freezing conditions. 95 – 100 days from transplant. An excellent contribution to the vegetable garden.
