TOMATO-BEEFSTEAK-aka RED PONDEROSA considered the original heirloom “Beefsteak” tomato. An old-time favorite that has been popular for many years due to its excellent productivity & wonderful taste. Produces lush, thick, indeterminate, regular- leaf, tomato plants that yield from vigorous vines with good yields of large 500 – 900g tomatoes. 10 to 12.5 cm, slightly ribbed, bright-red tomatoes that have marvelous delicious, sweet flavors. This tomato’s excellent taste & meaty flesh make it an ideal tomato for eating fresh or cooking, for slicing into sandwiches, in salads, juicing, preserving & relishes.

Sow in a good mix of soil and lightly cover – keep moist but not wet.  To transplant, plant deeper, up to the 1st set of true leaves, this increases rooting & speeds maturity. keep fertilized & evenly watered.

More About Us

When I started this journey in 2009, I found nothing existed commercially, that was reasonably priced and easy to use. There was a homemade system which I also found was not that user-friendly.

Then a friend of mine told me about a homemade method she used.   However, when I tried her method, I found this also didn’t suit my needs, as it too had flaws that I considered where important. It did not keep vermin out, did not have a lockable lid and (to me) looked unsightly in the garden
