Lycopersicon esculentum
TOMATO-SAN MARZANO is used in traditional Italian cooking & specified in Napolitano recipes & said to be the best-tasting tomato in the entire world. Long & slim, they are definitely a superior tomato. From Italy originally, but does extremely well here. Nice tall vines produce heavy yields of bright-red, 5 – 7cm, plum-type fruit over a long season. Excellent for making tomato paste but equally delicious as an eating tomato.

Sow in a good mix of soil and lightly cover – keep moist but not wet.  To transplant, plant deeper, up to the 1st set of true leaves, this increases rooting & speeds maturity. keep fertilized & evenly watered.

More About Us

When I started this journey in 2009, I found nothing existed commercially, that was reasonably priced and easy to use. There was a homemade system which I also found was not that user-friendly.

Then a friend of mine told me about a homemade method she used.   However, when I tried her method, I found this also didn’t suit my needs, as it too had flaws that I considered where important. It did not keep vermin out, did not have a lockable lid and (to me) looked unsightly in the garden
