Brassica oleracea

Produces a compact plant with short stems. It is a top-notch red variety that is used raw, cooked, or in coleslaw. This lovely cabbage variety produces striking reddish-purple, globe-shaped, heads that can add real beauty to your vegetable garden or gorgeous color to meals. It has resistance to cabbage yellows and head-splitting. It stores much better than many varieties. Heads are about 1.4 kg. It won’t split when planted in the spring and is one of the best cabbages for winter storage when planted in the late summer for autumn harvest.

Direct sow 6 weeks before the last frost, or start under protection 3 weeks before that. Start 4 months before the first frost for autumn/winter crops. Cabbage likes fertile soil and steady moisture.
