SPINACH – BLOOMSDALE
Spinacia oleracea
A fully-savoyed or crinkled variety with dark green leaves. Most heat-tolerant variety. Very reliable, & the most full-flavoured variety. Has withstood extreme winter lows. Plants resist tip burn & downy mildew. Sow the seeds directly into the garden anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks before the last expected frost or late summer, early autumn. Spinach resents transplanting & seeds germinate well in temps as low as 10°C.
For a continuous harvest, sow every two weeks until daytime temps start to average 24°C. Be ruthless crowded plants are more likely to bolt & you can use the cuts in salads.
