SPINACH-JAPANESE-(KOMATSUNA) is a popular Japanese vegetable with a mild mustard flavour. Excellent in stir-fry and salads. 30-45 days. It is a fast-growing vegetable & is ready for harvest 35 days after sowing in warm climates, keeps picking & it will keep growing Can be grown all year round in temperate & subtropical areas. The leaves may be eaten at any stage of their growth. In a mature plant, they are dark green with slender light green stalks, around 30 cm long & 18 cm wide. It is most often grown in spring & autumn, as it cannot endure extreme heat or cold for more than a short time.
Start outdoor sowing at the beginning of spring then again, in the middle of autumn. Cover with a thin layer of soil. Keep weed free & moist, especially during germination. Thin the seedlings gradually to 15 cm apart. These thinnings can be eaten like salad together with the young, outer, tender leaves. The inner leaves can be left to grow on & can be harvested later on. Cook or stir-fry them like a spinach substitute.

More About Us
When I started this journey in 2009, I found nothing existed commercially, that was reasonably priced and easy to use. There was a homemade system which I also found was not that user-friendly.
Then a friend of mine told me about a homemade method she used. However, when I tried her method, I found this also didn’t suit my needs, as it too had flaws that I considered where important. It did not keep vermin out, did not have a lockable lid and (to me) looked unsightly in the garden
