Brassica Rapa
TURNIP-PURPLE TOP WHITE GLOBE dates back to the 1800s & has remained popular for its beautiful appearance, production quality, & ease of growth. This popular heirloom variety has a large purple to red top that fades into white on the bottom. It’s a tender, white-fleshed variety that grows quickly & keeps well, making it a top choice for home gardens. A popular early variety. The top reaches 10-12cm diameter. The young leaves can be cooked as greens & the flesh has an excellent flavor, ideal in soups & stews or enjoys them roasted or mashed like potatoes.
Plant seeds outdoors where they are to grow & cover seeds with fine soil. When young seedlings are 5 – 10cm tall, thin to 10 to 15cm apart. Avoid using fresh manure in a soil where you plant turnips. Plants produce best in light, well-drained soil.

More About Us
When I started this journey in 2009, I found nothing existed commercially, that was reasonably priced and easy to use. There was a homemade system which I also found was not that user-friendly.
Then a friend of mine told me about a homemade method she used. However, when I tried her method, I found this also didn’t suit my needs, as it too had flaws that I considered where important. It did not keep vermin out, did not have a lockable lid and (to me) looked unsightly in the garden
